Yes, it is bad to self harm. Self harm is a behavior that is negative that helps you distract yourself (not in a healthy way) from other issues you are having in your life, instead of dealing with those issues in a more healthy and positive manner. There have been many websites that address self harm, but self-injury.net and the butterfly project seem to be pretty popular.
