I really want a dog, my parents say no way. I feel like my life would be so much better with a dog.
Hello and thanks for reaching out to 2ndfloor. Having a dog, can be a rewarding experience as they are full of love and become part of a family. However, a dog is a lot of responsibility. A dog requires time commitment, patience, and financial resources. Dogs need care even during holidays and vacations when you go away and may need someone to care for your dog. Some dogs may also need medical care that can be expensive. Talk to your parents about the reasons they do not want a dog. You can also ask them to consider fostering a dog so you can all see if this is a commitment you want as a family. Fostering a dog is for a limited time until they find a forever home. If your parents and you agree that this something you can all do, then you can keep the dog. If not, the agency will help you find a home for the dog. If you would like to talk to a live support counselor please call us or text us on our 2ndfloor app and someone will be available to you 24/7. Good luck.
This is a safe space to share what's on your mind and to get support from real people.
