Hello and thanks for reaching out to 2ndfloor. How long have you been feeling this way? Is something else also going on in your life. Sometime stress can also decrease a person's appetite. Having issues with eating or not wanting to eat can be all consuming and can also impact your physical and mental health. Seeing a medical provider is important to ensure you are not ill. Also seeing a therapist can help you figure out why you have these thoughts and strategies to address them. Just know that we are here for you and you are not alone. Please share how you are feeling with a trusted person, parent, or guardian, and so you can get help. Please visit www.nationaleatingdisorders.org for additional information. You are always welcome to chat on our new app or call us at 888-222-2228.
If you're trying to assess whether you might have an eating disorder, start by reflecting on your feelings about food and monitoring your eating behaviors, such as restrictive eating, bingeing, or purging. Consider your body image and whether you're overly critical of yourself or often compare yourself to others. Evaluate if you use food to cope with emotions like stress or anxiety. Seeking guidance from a healthcare professional or therapist who specializes in eating disorders can provide valuable insight. Additionally, discussing your feelings with trusted friends or family may help you gain perspective. Remember to be compassionate towards yourself during this process, and if your thoughts and behaviors are causing distress or affecting your daily life, reaching out for support is essential.
This is a safe space to share what's on your mind and to get support from real people.
