i have told teachers and counselors in my school that i struggle with reading and spelling and they do nothing. at the beginning of the year i got pulled out of ela and modified test but then it stopped because the teacher said that she couldn’t give them to me because i don’t have an IEP and that if she gave them to me it would be an unfair advantage but in my eyes it’s not because to me it’s an unfair advantage to me that everyone in class is learning the way they need too and stuff but i can’t. i told my mom that i am struggling and she told me to try. i’ve literally been trying for years and now i’m tired of trying i literally have to work twice as hard to get the bear minimum.

I'm so sorry to hear you're having a hard time with reading and spelling in school. It must have been really frustrating when you weren't able to be pulled out of ELA and get modified tests anymore. It sounds like you're doing a fantastic job of advocating for yourself and requesting support, even if you're not getting the results you want right now. In order to have an IEP or 504 plan you would need to have a disability that affects your educational performance. If you're not able to receive accommodations through those routes it might be worthwhile to consider other options for support, like staying after school for extra help or requesting tutoring. It's understandable if you're feeling exhausted from working so hard. Please be gentle with yourself while navigating this.
