Disordered Eating
I've been recovering from an eating disorder since January 25th and I hate Thanksgiving because I have to eat around people and I'm expected to eat alot but not only do I have sensory issues I ALSO HATE EATING AROUND PEOPLE anyways have a good Thanksgiving yall
It is definitely understandable how Thanksgiving can be a stressful time for someone recovering from an eating disorder. Is it possible to talk to someone there about the challenges you face on this day? It may be helpful to have that kind of support through out the day. Also, if you know that you have sensory concerns, would you be able to plan what you are comfortable with eating so you wont be so overwhelmed when the moment comes? These are just some tips, but more can be found on the National Eating Disorder Association webpage at www.nationaleatingdisorders.org/. If things get hard throughout your day remember that you are not alone. Help is just a SECOND away with call or chat through the 2NDFLOOR app anytime 24/7/365.
It's completely understandable to have mixed feelings about holidays like Thanksgiving, especially when you're navigating recovery from an eating disorder. Being around food and people can be challenging, particularly if you have sensory sensitivities and discomfort with communal eating.
It's important to prioritize your mental and emotional well-being during these times. If you feel comfortable, it might help to communicate your feelings to those you're celebrating with or to plan your meals in a way that feels safer and more manageable for you.
Remember, it's okay to set boundaries and take care of yourself. You're not alone in this, and there are people who support you. If you need someone to talk to or resources for support, don't hesitate to reach out. Wishing you strength and comfort during the holidays!
Hey there! I just wanted to say that it’s totally okay to feel stressed about it. It’s awesome that you’re thinking about ways to prepare and make things easier for yourself. Talking to someone about what you’re going through sounds like a great idea!
Planning your meals ahead of time is super smart too—it can really help take some of the pressure off when you’re in the moment. Just remember, it’s all about doing what feels best for you.
And don’t forget, you’re not alone in this! There’s support out there whenever you need it. If things get tough, reaching out for help is a brave step. You've got this, and I’m cheering you on! 🌟💖
This is a safe space to share what's on your mind and to get support from real people.
