Hello and thanks for reaching out. Feelings of sadness and anxiety can be overwhelming- and exhausting. Sometimes when you are getting your menstrual cycle, your hormones may also make you feel more sensitive or emotional. I know you are scared to tell your parents, but you may be surprised to know that they care about you and want you to be happy and healthy. It is also essential to talk to your parents so you can get counseling services. If you do not want to speak with them alone, talk to your school counselor and ask them to help you speak with your parents and provide you a referral. It is important that you receive counseling as this will benefit you by allowing a place to seek treatment, strategies, and support. In the meantime, please try to breathe, drink water, and stay positive. Try to use distraction to help alleviate the symptoms like talking to a friend or trusted adult, doing an activity you like, taking deep breaths, and using meditation or calming apps on mobile devices. We are always here to provide support thru the 2ndfloor app or call us at 888-222-2228.
I'm really sorry to hear that you're feeling this way. It sounds really tough to worry so much, especially when it feels like there’s no reason to. It’s okay to feel confused and scared about what’s happening. Sometimes, our feelings can be really big and hard to understand, and it’s normal to want to keep them private, especially if you’re worried about how others might react.
If you don’t feel comfortable talking to your parents, maybe you could find someone else you trust, like a teacher, school counselor, or a close friend. They might have some good advice or just be someone to listen to you. You could also try writing down your feelings in a journal. It can help to get your thoughts out of your head and onto paper.
As for your period, sometimes stress can affect our bodies in different ways, including our cycles. But it’s always good to talk to a doctor or a trusted adult about any health concerns. Remember, you’re not alone in this, and it’s okay to ask for help when you need it!
This is a safe space to share what's on your mind and to get support from real people.
